Summer School on:
“Managing Diversity: EU and Turkey”
The academic objective of the summer school is to disseminate knowledge on institutions and policies of the EU and Turkey in the course of Turkey’s accession process, with a specific focus on the role of civil society, public opinion, immigration, culture, democracy and foreign policy.

VISITING FELLOWS: Bertrand Badie

Prof. Bertrand Badie paid a visit to İstanbul Bilgi University and gave two lectures; one at BİLGİ's Dolapdere Campus, the second at Pera Museum. His visit was part of the INTERACT: EU, France, Turkey University Dialogue project, implemented by İstanbul Bilgi University, in partnership with Sciences Po Paris and IFEA (French Institute on Anatolian Studies), which is part of the European Commission's project on Promoting the Civil Society Dialogue between EU and Turkey.
His first lecture was at BİLGİ's Dolapdere campus on May 6, titled The French Approach to Internatinoal Relations. More then hundred people, students and academics from and outside of BİLGİ have listened to Prof. Bertrand Badie's very powerful speak, in which he spoke about the distinctive features of French academia on the study of International Studies.

In the second day of his stay in Istanbul, Prof. Badie was joined by the famous historian İlber Ortaylı in a public debate, with moderation of Prof. Jean Marcou, the deputy coordinator of INTERACT project and senior researcher of IFEA. The title of this conference was The Crisis of Multilateralism.
Prof. Bertrand Badie is holds graduate degrees from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (IEP, political science), the Institut des Langues Orientales and the University of Paris I (history of the 20th century). Ph.D. in political science from the IEP (1975); Full Professor (Professeur agrégé) of political science since 1982. Director of the Presses de Sciences Po from 1994 to 2003; director of the Rotary Centre for International Studies in Peace and Conflict Resolution at Sciences Po between 2001 and 2005. Currently, head of the Research Master’s in International Relations and of the Doctoral Program in Political Science of International Relations at Sciences Po. His research interests include sociology of international relations, human rights and multilateralism
